I am looking to see what are the best new treatments for anxiety and mood disorders I have tried every thing that I know of I have been on all kinds of medicene but nothing seems to help with it and is there any new treatments that may work stronger than the older treatments and that have fast results
Did you try xanax?
seroquel, (sp?)and lexapro are good for this.
seeking the lord helps alot of people
Try walking or exercising. You need to vent your emotions. or it will build up inside you. Yoga is very help full. Don't worry about it. it is all in the mind. And the mind controls the body.
Skip being a Guinea pig for all kinds of meds, that could make it all worse and intensify the mood swings and anxiety. Fall in love, take a vacation, book a massage, buy a new outfit, think positive, there must be something you really enjoy doing, take up a workout schedule, that keeps your mind off negative thoughts and actually balances your serotonin levels in the brain which are the so called "happy hormones"?.
Drugs don't work. It's all in your mind. Your anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and obsessions are NOT caused by mental or physical illness. Anxiety isn't an illnesses. Anxiety is caused by subconscious, unwanted thoughts. Control your thoughts = no more anxiety
Sometimes the newest is not necessarily the best and it would be difficult to answer the question not knowing the specifics of your symptoms and medication history.
For anxiety, some folks do best with SSRI drugs (like Paxil and Luvox) while others do best with the old fashioned benzodiazapines (like Klonopin and Valium.) one note about the "risk of suicide" with the use of these newer drugs is that the smartest way to start and stop these meds is Prozac. start Prozac, after a couple of weeks, change to Paxil/Luvox, then never go off of Paxil/Luvox without weaning gradually, switching back to Prozac, then going off slowly.
For mood disorders, that could be anything from depression (mild, moderate, severe) or bipolar disorder to any number of things, so again, not enough information. for bipolar disorder, some folks find lithium to be the only thing that works for them, for some it's carbamazapines and for others it's Depakote. a lot depends on whether the patient is primarily manic or depressed. it would depend on whether the patient has a history of rapid cycling or ultra rapid cycling or just switches once or twice a year with mood.
Depression is another issue altogether, that's treated very differently than bipolar disorder. Folks with Bipolar II with psychosis would also need antipsychotics to aid with psychosis that comes with unmanaged mania or sometimes in conjunction with the disorder altogether. some find Zyprexa to be helpful to manage both mania and psychosis.
I will tell you that the best antipsychotic, in my opinion, hands down, is Abilify (aripiprazole) and it has so few side effects compared to everything else on the market that it's just a wonder drug for anyone with psychosis in my eyes.
Some medications take weeks of bumping the dose around and getting a steady dose before you can even know that they're working or not working. It's not unusual to not know for 6 to 8 weeks if a medication will work for anxiety (but in the meantime you can use fast acting meds like the benzodiazapines to control symptoms.) Same is true for mood stabilizers (but faster acting meds like Risperdal can sometimes reduce mania enough to make life easier until mood is stabilized by longer acting meds.
Abilify is different from other antipsychotics in that it does NOT work "right away" and Risperdal or another fast acting med will need to be used for a week or 10 days until level is built up adequately to control symptoms. But once it works? It's one pill once a day and it works great for most folks.
Not sure if any of this was helpful? but without details it's just sort of a crap shoot
See a psychologist. they do NOT write prescriptions and are good for talk therapy to see if there is an underlying problem. true anxiety is usually the result of another problem, either something you need to get over, or a medical condition that can be treated with meds. Good luck!
I was against medication in the past but not anymore. it does help. You need to find the right one AND THE RIGHT DOSE for YOU. Everyone is different. Talk therapy is fine and could be key but the most immediate relief is meds and thats the first step that I suggest. although you have tried some before I dont know which ones youve tried or what dose you started/went up to, side effects you experienced etc. I know that Paxil combined with Ativan or Xanex is a good combo for Anxiety. The right dose/combo for YOU is key.
well there are always some new meds popping up and ya can go ahead and try them but i am now finding that just tossing your mental health into the hands of a doctor and some pills just wont cut it. they are just a small part of your mental wellness. I took DBT classes (dialectical behavior therapy) for a year and I believe alot of our wellness has to come from within. I know this sounds crazy but until you actually put forth 100% effort to truly try to make your life worth living it wont be. I have been bipolar since age 14 and my life completely sucked until i took the DBT classes. and trust me i had been on every med in the books and even had a couple of series of ECT cuz i got so bad off.
