It's finally Ann Curry's time to shine on The Today Show.
The New York Times reports that Curry, 54, the show's news anchor for 14 years, will succeed Meredith Vieira as co-host of the hugely successful morning show. As long speculated, a source told the Times that Viera, 57, plans to depart the show after five years, with Curry taking over her role alongside co-host Matt Lauer likely this June.

NBC reportedly will hold a news conference on Monday morning to announce these changes. With Curry's promotion, Natalie Morales, a 9 a.m. Today Show anchor, will replace her at the news desk; Savannah Guthrie, a White House correspondent and MSNBC anchor, will take over Morales' role as 9 a.m. anchor.

No word yet on Matt Lauer's job status. Reports have also surfaced that Lauer plans to leave the show when his contract expires at the end of 2012. Lauer, 53, has been on the show since 1992 when he debuted as an occasional news reader. Some say he may team up with old Today Show cohort Katie Couric, who's leaving CBS News.
Why is Vieira leaving such a successful show? She has reportedly grown tired of the show's grueling morning production schedule -- and has admitted she'd love to spend more time with her three kids and husband, TV news producer Richard Cohen.

"If were to leave at the end of next year because it's time for me, I wouldn't jump into another show," she told Ladies Home Journal last year.
"I would look forward to not working, to traveling with Richard and carving out time for us," she said.
