(AP) ? Chuck Pagano walked onto the field Sunday waving to the fans and hugging his wife.

He left the field hugging everybody in sight ? assistant coaches, Colts players, even Texans players and coaches ? before dancing in the locker room.

Why not?

Andrew Luck threw for two TDs, Vick Ballard ran for another and Deji Karim scored on a 101-yard kickoff return to give the cancer-beating coach a 28-16 win over AFC South champ Houston in his return to the sideline.

Those who thought Pagano might take it easy in his first game back at the helm of the wild-card Colts since starting the first of three rounds of chemotherapy Sept. 26 were wrong.

Pagano spent the pregame warm-ups hugging friends such as offensive coordinator and former interim coach Bruce Arians, and Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. During the game, he was the same old guy. Pagano took his customary linebacker stance, hands on bended knees, signaled touchdowns when the Colts scored, patted players on their helmets and gestured for flags to be thrown. He even sprinted a few times.

Fans gave Pagano a standing ovation after a 1-minute video was shown on the stadium's two Jumbotrons just before kickoff.

But Pagano's players wanted to welcome back another way: with a victory celebration. Indy (11-5) did everything it needed to get it Sunday, perhaps damaging the Texans' playoff seeding, too.

The Colts play at Baltimore in the wild-card round next weekend. The slumping Texans (12-4) have lost three of their last four and won't know their AFC seeing until after Denver and New England finish later Sunday.

Indy prevented J.J. Watt from getting any closer to Michael Strahan's NFL sacks record (22?). Watt finished the season with 20?.

Luck broke Peyton Manning's rookie record for completions and moved into third all-time among rookies with 22 TD passes. He finished 14 of 28 for 191 yards, giving him 339 completions this season.

Of course, the Colts gave Pagano a game ball, then watched him lead an impromptu dance in the locker room, including a do-si-do with team owner Jimmy Irsay.

It didn't take long for the Colts to assert themselves in this emotional environment ? or to swing the game when the Texans took their only lead. Shayne Graham made a 37-yard field goal with 5:22 left in the third quarter, but that lead lasted all of 12 seconds.

Karim fielded the ensuing kickoff 1 yard deep in the end zone, found a seam in the middle of the field and never slowed until he reached the opposite end zone to make it 21-16. Pagano patted him on the helmet after the longest kickoff return since the Colts moved to Indy in 1984.

Then, facing third-and-23 from the 30, Luck threw a perfect strike through a narrow window, hitting T.Y. Hilton in stride for a 70-yard TD to make it 28-16.

On a day the Texans mostly settled for field goals, that's all the Colts needed.

Luck masterfully led the Colts 75 yards in 13 plays on the game's opening possession, prompting Pagano to call for a defensive pass interference call on third-and-goal. Pagano also flung his arms into the air when Luck hooked up with Coby Fleener for a 1-yard score.

Graham made a 51-yard field goal late in the first quarter and 37-yarder early in the second.

But after Matt Schaub's underthrown pass was picked off by Vontae Davis and returned 26 yards to the Houston 39, Luck went back to work. He found Hilton for a 17-yard completion before Ballard plunged in from the 1 to make it 14-6.

Pagano was even on the minds of the Texans.

Houston opened the second half with its only touchdown when Arian Foster broke through a hole for a 13-yard TD run. Instead of doing his trademark bow, though, Foster ran through the end zone and tapped the (hash)Chuckstrong sign hanging on the wall. That made it 14-13.

Schaub finished 24 of 36 for 275 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns. Foster ran 16 times for 96 yards.

A Quarter of a Million Downloads ? End of 2012 Metrics for Hunter Davis on the Google Play Store

When looking back on 2012, it was a pretty successful year for both myself, and Google. They released a hot new tablet, and their app store has done remarkably well. One of my personal successes was the open sourcing of all of my android apps and other software back in April. Now, at the end of 2012 I feel that in the spirit of open source software I should share all the metrics about my apps on the Play store. The bottom line is, things are going pretty well. Installs are on the rise, and I love sharing software with people.

You can view or download the embedded spreadsheet below. I?ve highlighted some interesting findings in the list directly below.

  • My apps have been downloaded from the Play store a total of 223,872 times.
  • My apps have (today) 27,508 active installs from the Play store.
  • The average number of installs per app is 3k.
  • The average active installs per app (today) is 410.
  • During 2012 I received 10 total emails from users of my apps requesting bug fixes. I responded to every one.
  • During 2012 I received 15 total emails for feature requests, I implemented 8 of them.
  • Since becoming a Play store developer in May 2011, I have published 68 apps. I have pulled one app and had one app suspended due to DMCA request by Atari (custom pong.)
  • All of my apps have crashed a total of 63 times. That?s less than one crash per year per app on average.
  • The #1 most downloaded app is ?Easy Cat Whistle? with 48K, followed by ?Easy Pest Control? with 17k, and a three way tie with ?Easy Side by Side?, ?Easy Graph Paper?, and ?Easy File Split and Join? each having about 10-11k.
  • The app with the most active installs is ?Easy Side by Side? with 3860, followed by ?Easy Cat Whistle? with 3459 and ?Easy Inventory? with 2629
  • The average rating for one of my apps is 3.6 (out of 5). The average number of people who actually rate an app is ten.
  • My one paid app (Super Whistle) took about two hours to complete and has been purchased 53 times, netting me ~40$
  • I make about 50$ monthly on in-app advertising during the summer months, and 100$ during the winter months (this is not captured in this document, only through my bank statements). That?s about 2 times as much as I made from my monthly book sales in 2012, but only 1/150th of my monthly salary from working 9-5 jobs in 2012. Do note however, that most of these apps haven?t been updated since I initially published them in 2011, and advertising revenue continues to slowly rise. This slowly increases the return on those hours spent writing the apps initially.

As you can see, as an Android developer, I still get significantly more financial return from my time investment by working for an established organization. Not that money should generally be the driving force in your career, but for most of us it weighs in significantly. Mobile developers are the hot commodity right now, and companies can?t hire them fast enough or compensate them highly enough. It?s a volatile and exciting market that once again won?t be the same in a year. It likely won?t even resemble what it was a year ago. Those who know how to navigate the choppy waters of new technologies can, as usual, write their own checks. That said, it?s always good to have another revenue stream.

There?s also something incredibly satisfying about sharing software with people, especially when it is open sourced.

Venezuela sees 2012 inflation at 19.9 percent, below target

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan inflation reached 19.9 percent in 2012, the central bank said in a preliminary estimate on Saturday, beating its official target thanks to strict price controls that business leaders say are unsustainable in the long term.

The government of President Hugo Chavez has capped prices for a wide range of consumer goods, helping contain inflation that has traditionally been the highest in Latin America. The 2012 target had been between 22 and 25 percent.

But inflation is seen accelerating in 2013 because Venezuela is expected to devalue the bolivar currency after heavy campaign spending this year that helped ensure Chavez's re-election.

Devaluing eases fiscal pressure on the government by providing more bolivars for each dollar of crude exports, but also pushes up the cost of importing basic consumer goods that are not produced in the oil-dependent country.

In late 2011, when prices rose 27.6 percent, the government began extended a system of controls that now regulate prices of products ranging from deodorant to meat while fixing profit margins.

This helped keep prices in check in an election year despite heavy government spending on welfare programs ranging from construction of homes for the poor to monthly cash stipends for single mothers.

But business leaders say the controls have kept prices artificially low, and that inflation is likely to bounce back.

Authorities on Thursday released preliminary estimates showing the country's economy grew 5.5 percent in 2012, with the construction sector among the fastest-growing thanks to a state homebuilding program.

Help homeowners drowning in debt

Despite some signs of awakening in the long-dormant housing market, the Obama administration has failed abysmally to help millions of homeowners who are under water, owing more than their houses are worth. This includes more than one-fifth of all homeowners with mortgages, or almost 11 million households.

Being under water has many downsides. One of the worst is that it prevents mobility, an essential ingredient in economic growth. People who need to move to find new jobs are stuck if they can't sell or rent their houses.

The Obama administration has plans to help homeowners whose mortgages are backed by the government, but there are many restrictions and caveats. Housing remains one of the most troublesome aspects of the gloomy fiscal outlook.

But we hear that the White House is considering a plan that would give Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the taxpayer-supported mortgage lenders, the ability to help millions of homeowners who have mortgages elsewhere refinance their underwater loans as long as they are up to date on their payments.

Unfortunately, such a move would require congressional action, and we all know what an unsure prospect that is. If Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are permitted to guarantee refinanced loans, they would charge higher rates. The private mortgage industry has no problem with that, but it would balk at being forced to take back loans that default, which would increase the risk to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

We think the

refinance plan is worth serious attention and hope that next year's Congress will be more serious about spurring economic growth and helping desperate homeowners. The economy is wobbling, and any action that will help stabilize it and bring back confidence is important.

Stamped Concrete Can Improve Your Homes Curb Appeal | The ...

Improving the look and beauty of your home does not mean that you have to use inferior or expensive materials. In fact, one of the most inexpensive, yet durable building material is stamped concrete. Concrete is well known for being versatile, durable and inexpensive. Plus, it can also be stamped with attractive designs to make it one of the most decorative building materials as well.

Stamped Concrete Colorado Springs

Stamped Concrete Colorado Springs

Stamped concrete is perfect for decks, patios and flooring both in and outside the home. Here are just a few reasons why you should choose stamped concrete over other common building materials to help improve the look of your house.

Stability

Wooden decks are strong, but concrete is much stronger, allowing it to handle heavy weights such as hot tubs with ease. Unlike wooden decks which can splinter and get hot under sunlight, stamped concrete decks will stay cool and never harm your bare feet. Plus, stamped concrete does not get slippery when wet either.

Maintenance

One of the best reasons to choose stamped concrete is its durability and low maintenance. Wooden decks last roughly fifteen years if you maintain it on a regular basis. That means annual waterproofing and frequent checks of the supporting structure to insure it is not sagging. Plus, insects are very attracted to wood which makes them highly vulnerable to ants, certain variety of bees and most damaging of all, termites.

With stamped concrete decks all you need is the occasional water sealant application every few years and that is it. Insects do not care for concrete at all, plus all you need to do is sweep it occasionally to keep it clean of dirt and debris or you can use the water hose after it has been sealed for a more thorough cleaning effort.

Versatility

Concrete is a very malleable material as well, meaning it is perfect for stamping attractive designs as well as being used in a number of ways around the home. Here are just a few ways that people use stamped concrete both in and outside their home.

-?????? Decks

-?????? Sidewalks

-?????? Driveways

-?????? Patios

-?????? Wrap Around Porches and more

Having attractive designs stamped into concrete can improve the look of your home as well as add your own sense of style. There are literally thousands of designs to choose from which means you can add your own personal touch to common areas around your home. From short walkways to large pool decks and patios, stamped concrete can reflect your own personal taste that runs through how you decorate your own home. Tying together both the inside and outside of your residence.

Price

Concrete is one of the least expensive building materials, being made from common rocks and used for thousands of years in all types of structures. Compared to wood for example, concrete is not only less expensive, it will last for generations with little maintenance.

All in all, if you are thinking about adding a new deck, walkway, wrap around porch or other type of flooring. Then you want to consider stamped concrete as your material of choice.
