'Beasts Of The Southern Wild' Director On Festival Response And Making People Cry

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" is unusual for a number of reasons. First, it stars 8-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis as a girl named Hush Puppy, who lives with her father in a part of Lousianna called The Bathtub. Second, it has dominated almost every film festival since it screened at this year's Sundance Film Festival, and [...]

Henry Flipper is dismissed from the military

On this day in 1882, Henry Ossian Flipper, the first African-American graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, was dismissed from the service for "conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman." Flipper, born a slave in Georgia in 1856, was the fifth black accepted to West Point but the first to graduate, in 1877. He accepted a commission as a second lieutenant and joined the Tenth United States Cavalry. He was eventually made quartermaster at Fort Davis, but Col. William Rufus Shafter relieved him in 1881; Flipper believed he was the victim of persecution and is said to have been warned by civilians at the post of a plot by white officers to force him from the army. The following year, when he discovered post funds missing from his quarters, he attempted to conceal the loss until he could find or replace the money. When Shafter learned of the discrepancy, he immediately filed charges against Flipper. A court-martial acquitted Flipper of embezzlement but pronounced him guilty of "conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman." He subsequently worked as a mining engineer in El Paso, Arizona, and Mexico, and later for the Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C. Flipper maintained his innocence until his death in 1940 and waged a lifelong battle for reinstatement in the army. In 1976, when a bust of him was unveiled at West Point, the Department of the Army granted Flipper an honorable discharge, dated June 30, 1882.

There are several kinds of teeth whitening. These solutions might remedy discolouration by getting rid of brown or yellow staining in the teeth. You may pick from numerous types of teeth whitening. Your cosmetic dentist may decide which befits you.

-Porcelain Laminates

Otherwise known as dental veneers, porcelain laminates may be a solution for people who want to improve the look of their teeth.

A dental veneer is a shell made from composite resin or porcelain, just like the tooth enamel. Your dentist may apply this at the front surface of the tooth. To apply composite dental veneers, dental consultants develop plastic resin material in layers.

Porcelain laminates derive from a specialized dental laboratory and need at least two trips. The first visit is where the dentist could establish the preferred colour, size, and shape of the veneer. During the second visit, the dentist can connect the porcelain shell towards the teeth.

A few reasons for having dental veneers include having damaged or chipped teeth, too much spaces between teeth, and discoloured teeth.

-Invisalign

If you would like clear braces in Sydney, Invisalign is the dental solution to suit your needs. You can change these transparent and removable aligners every two weeks. Each set of aligner is created to match your own teeth naturally. As you replace each aligner, your teeth may move and adjust until such time they?re straightened to the final placement prescribed by your dental professional.

With Invisalign, your dentist might use a virtual 3D treatment that permits you to see the series of movements your teeth undergoes the straightening process. This enables you to imagine what your teeth will look like at the end of the treatment. Instead of dental braces, clear braces in Sydney offer comfort and convenience, as you don?t have problems in eating.

-CEREC

CEREC or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics is a technology dental clinics use to create porcelain restorations in one visit. Dentists might make life-like porcelain crowns and partial crowns manufactured and fitted in just one visit. This dental treatment utilizes a 3D camera and takes a digital impression. Later on, the dentist may use effective computer software that styles and mills customized precision-fitted porcelain restorations. The dentist may attach this to the tooth.

These techniques utilize the latest computer, material, and bonding technology to preserve and strengthen damaged tooth structure. This might make strong, resilient and aesthetic ceramic restorations available.

Porcelain veneers Sydney not just improve the appearance of teeth, it also restores self-confidence and youthful appearance.

Touchdown! Chinese Space Capsule With 3 Astronauts Returns to Earth

Three Chinese astronauts returned to Earth Thursday (June 28) after 13 days in space on a historic mission that made their country only the third nation ever to successfully dock a manned spacecraft to another in orbit.

China's Shenzhou 9 space capsule landed at about10 p.m. EDT?(10 a.m. Friday, June 29 Beijing time) in Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region of the People's Republic of China. To prepare for their journey home, the space crew ? which included China's first female astronaut Liu Yang ? separated the Shenzhou 9 capsule its target, the Tiangong 1 prototype space module, on Wednesday (June 27).

Their landing was broadcast live on China's state-run CCTV television network, showing the capsule streaking through the atmosphere like a meteor, deploying its main parachute, then making the final landing and rolling over on its side in a rough touchdown.

"We fulfilled the first manned manual docking," mission commander Jing Haipeng told CCTV reporters after exiting the Shenzhou 9 capsule. His comments in Chinese were translated into English by CCTV. "For the country and people all across the country, thank you for your concerns." ?[Photos of China's Shenzhou 9 Mission]

Jing and crewmates Liu Yang and Liu Wang appeared to be in good health after their space mission. The trio wore broad smiles and waved to cameras after leaving their spacecraft, but did sit in reclined chairs to help ease their adaptation back to Earth's gravity after nearly two weeks in weightlessness.

Shortly after the landing, China's Premier Wen Jiabao proclaimed the Shenzhou 9 mission a complete success.

"This manned docking mission of Tiangong 1 and Shenzhou 9 marks a large milestone, a major breakthrough for China to master the space docking technology," Wen said while reading a statement. "And also, it marks a decisive step forward on China's second step on its space strategy."

China's big space leap

China's Shenzhou 9 mission, which included successful displays of manual and automatic dockings, represented an important leap forward for China's space program. In addition to being China's longest space mission to date, it also tested technology vital for the country's goal of building space station in orbit by the year 2020.

"Chinese astronauts have their own home in space now," Jing told China's President Hu Jintao on Tuesday (June 26) during a special call according to the state-run Xinhua news agency. "We are proud of our country!" ?

And while the orbital linkups are important technological achievements for China, the mission also carried a wider social impact because it included the country's first female astronaut: the 33-year-old Liu Yang.

"It was like a home in Tiangong, and I feel very happy and proud of my country," Liu Yang told reporters after landing.

Jing, the commander, is China's first veteran astronaut to fly in space twice. The third crewmember, Liu Wang, served as the Shenzhou 9 docking pilot.

"It feels really good to feel the ground and to be back home," Liu Wang said.

The?Shenzhou 9 mission launched into orbit on June 16 and performed China's first manned space rendezvous, after the spacecraft robotically docked to Tiangong 1 on June 18. Several days later, on June 24, the astronauts backed away from the orbiting module and parked their Shenzhou 9 spacecraft once more, demonstrating manual control over the procedure as well.

"This work was done by all space pioneers and staff and we'll remember you. It will be written in history," Wen said.

China's space station goal

The successful linkups made China only the third country, after the United States and Russia, to accomplish manned dockings in orbit.

The Shenzhou 9 mission, as well as experiments performed aboard?Tiangong 1?throughout the flight, tested technologies that will help China fulfill its goal of building a 60-ton space station in orbit by 2020. [How China's Space Station Will Work (Infographic)]

"The data will help us improve technologies for astronauts' future, long-term stays in a space station," said Chen Shanguang, chief commander of the mission's astronaut system,?according to Xinhua.

China is not a member nation of the $100 billion International Space Station in low-Earth orbit, a roughly 430-ton orbiting outpost that is jointly operated by more than a dozen countries.

But Chinese officials have outlined an ambitious space program for the nation, which includes collecting samples from the moon and robotically returning them to Earth before landing astronauts on the lunar surface.

The Shenzhou 9 mission is China's fourth manned spaceflight. Previous expeditions were launched in 2003, 2005 and 2008.

The Tiangong 1 test module was launched into orbit in September 2011. In November, a robotic spacecraft, called Shenzhou 8, completed the country's first unmanned space docking. According to Chinese officials, Tiangong 1 has performed well, and could play host to another crew in the near future.

"Based on current conditions, the service of Tiangong 1 can be extended," said He Yu, chief commander of the Shenzhou 9 spacecraft, reported Xinhua. "It has consumed less than one-fourth of its fuel and no back-up systems have been used."

Depending on its condition, the module could remain in orbit as China continues its space station construction efforts.

"If Tiangong 1 was in perfect shape, it could work side by side with Tiangong 2, which will be launched in the future," He said.

PFT: Urlacher says he'll be ready for camp

yahoo_breessidelineGetty Images

The Saints reportedly are poised to make Drew Brees the highest-paid player in NFL history, and the Saints allegedly aren?t negotiating with Brees in good faith.

We?d hate to see how much money the Saints would be offering Brees if they were acting in good faith.

Lost in the contention that Brees? role in the 2011 labor talks are being used against Brees in his contract talks is the fact that the Saints have repeatedly made very significant offers to Brees.? In 2011, they made an offer that would have put Brees in the Peyton Manning/Tom Brady ballpark.? In February 2012, they applied the exclusive version of the franchise tag, which put Brees in line for $16.371 million this season, more than $1 million per game.? In March 2012, they offered another deal that would have made him the highest paid player in the league.? In June 2012, they upped the ante once again.

So where?s the bad faith?

Not giving a guy everything he wants isn?t bad faith.? Not blowing out a team?s salary cap for one player isn?t bad faith.

If the Saints aren?t happy with their most important player because of his role in the labor talks, then the other 31 teams presumably like him even less.? So bad faith would have been, at a minimum, using the non-exclusive version of the franchise tag, since no other team would have signed him to an offer sheet and given the Saints a pair of first-round picks if the Saints hadn?t matched.

Bad faith also would have been giving him no franchise tag at all, thrusting him onto a market full of teams that would have collectively lowballed him, as their way of blackballing him.

Drew knows deep down that the Saints aren?t sticking it to him, because of his role in the CBA talks or for any other reason.? That?s why the initial report from Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com regarding the union?s contention that the Saints are discriminating against Brees contains the ludicrous suggestion that ?The quarterback did not play a role in the decision . . . with the union moving forward of its own accord.?? Brees wants to squeeze the Saints with an unfounded claim without getting his hands dirty, so he?s hiding behind the notion that the NFLPA has decided on its own, without regard to the wishes of a member of its Executive Committee, to make an outlandish charge that the Saints, by offering consistently to make him the highest-paid player in the league, are screwing him.

Brees has built up plenty of equity in New Orleans and elsewhere over the years.? If Saints fans take the time to see through this one, it could all be gone in the blink of an eye.

None of this changes the fact that the Saints foolishly have delayed getting this deal done.? With coach Sean Payton suspended for the year and with the franchise otherwise in disarray, Brees? presence during the entire offseason program should have been regarded as critical to a successful effort in 2012 ? especially since the Saints? postseason performance hinges on home-field advantage unlike any other team in the league.

The Saints also had been leaking that Brees wants more money than he actually has demanded.? Stupid, yes.? Bad faith, no.

The Saints need Brees.? The Saints love Brees.? But his role in the CBA talks is irrelevant to the ongoing inability to work out a long-term deal, and Brees knows it.

IV Oxygen Foam Could Buy Breathing Time

60-Second Science60-Second Science | Health

Animals with blocked windpipes maintained stable blood oxygen levels and heart rates after receiving injections of oxygen-filled microparticles. Sophie Bushwick reports

More 60-Second Science

Every time you inhale, oxygen passes from your windpipe to your lungs and on into your bloodstream. But what if your windpipe was blocked? Getting the gas straight to your blood could save your life. Wait, put down that syringe?a large air bubble in a blood vessel can kill you. But what if the bubbles were only a few millionths of a meter in diameter?

Researchers coated tiny amounts of oxygen gas with fatty molecules to create microparticles. Suspended in solution, the microparticles formed a foam containing 50 to 90 percent oxygen. In a beaker of blood, the foam was able to quickly transfer its oxygen to the cells.

Then the researchers tested it in animals. Normally, a blocked windpipe cuts off the blood?s supply of oxygen, leading to brain damage and death. But when rabbits with blocked windpipes received injections of the microparticles, their blood oxygen levels and heart rates remained stable. The work is in the journal Science Translational Medicine. [John N. Kheir et al., "Oxygen Gas?Filled Microparticles Provide Intravenous Oxygen Delivery"]

The foam may someday buy time for human patients. So that even someone with a closed airway can breathe easy.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) ? Fire crews fought to save the U.S. Air Force Academy and residents begged for information on the fate of their homes Wednesday after a night of terror sent thousands of people fleeing a raging Colorado Springs wildfire.

More than 30,000 have been displaced by the fire, including thousands who frantically packed up belongings Tuesday night after it barreled into neighborhoods in the foothills west and north of Colorado's second-largest city. With flames looming overhead, they clogged roads shrouded in smoke and flying embers, their fear punctuated by explosions of bright orange flame that signaled yet another house had been claimed.

"The sky was red, the wind was blowing really fast and there were embers falling from the sky," said Simone Covey, a 26-year-old mother of three who fled an apartment near Garden of the Gods park and was staying at a shelter. "I didn't really have time to think about it. I was just trying to keep my kids calm."

Wilma Juachon sat under a tree at an evacuation center, wearing a mask to block the smoke. A tourist from California, she was evacuated from a fire near Rocky Mountain National Park last week and, now, from her Colorado Springs hotel.

"I said I hope it never happens again, and guess what?" Juachon said.

Shifting winds challenged firefighters trying to contain the 29-square-mile Waldo Canyon blaze and extinguish hot spots inside the city's western suburbs. Winds were calmer Wednesday night.

Some 3,000 more people were evacuated to the west of the fire, Teller County authorities said Wednesday, and Teller County courts were closed through Thursday.

Meanwhile, the White House said President Barack Obama will tour fire-stricken areas of Colorado on Friday and thank firefighters battling some of the worst fires to hit the American West in decades.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey said Obama's visit to Colorado, considered a key battleground state in the presidential election, would not tax the city's already-strained police force. Gov. John Hickenlooper said he expected the president might sign a disaster declaration that would allow for more federal aid.

The full scope of the fire remained unknown. So intense were the flames and so thick the smoke that rescue workers weren't able to tell residents which structures were destroyed and which ones were still standing. Steve Cox, a spokesman for Mayor Steve Bach, reported that at least dozens of homes had been consumed.

Indeed, authorities were too busy Wednesday struggling to save homes in near-zero visibility to count how many had been destroyed in what is the latest test for a drought-parched and tinder-dry state. Crews also were battling a deadly and destructive wildfire in northern Colorado and another that flared Tuesday night near Boulder.

Carey said officials had no plans to release the numbers of homes destroyed ? insisting residents have a right to be told first, in private.

FBI spokesman Dave Joly said federal investigators are working closely with local and state law enforcement to determine if any of Colorado's fires were deliberately set or resulted from criminal activity. He did not elaborate.

Colorado Springs Fire Chief Rich Brown said his personnel heroically saved many homes in the midst of the firestorm. The strategy: protecting houses adjacent to those in flames to prevent a domino effect and then racing to the next suburban hot spot, a technique he called "triage." Federal firefighters worked with U.S. Army bulldozer crews from nearby Fort Carson to create perimeter lines.

The Waldo Canyon Fire burned about 10 acres along the southwest boundary of the Air Force Academy campus. No injuries or damage to structures ? including the iconic Cadet Chapel ? were reported.

Academy officials were relocating about 550 cadets off academy grounds late Wednesday. About 200 cadets in summer academics were being moved to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, and 350 others in airmanship and other training programs were released to local sponsor families, the school said. The cadet area isn't immediately threatened, and an incoming class of more than 1,000 is still scheduled to arrive Thursday.

Fort Carson had 121 soldiers building firebreaks around parts of the academy, aided by equipment including 10 heavy bulldozers, four excavators, 13 military transportation and support vehicles, and one commercial road grader, Army officials said.

The Red Cross was accommodating victims at its shelters, with space enough for perhaps 2,500 people. Most evacuees were staying with family and friends.

Colorado wasn't the only state affected by fire, as several burned throughout the parched West.

Tom Harbour, director of fire and aviation management for the U.S. Forest Service, said that with several fires burning, there is competition for firefighting resources, but "we're still at a point where we've got lots of available assets to mix and match on individual incidents."

Harbour said there's a difference between what incident commanders want and what they need to fight a fire effectively. And despite some criticism, he said the agency has been working to get equipment where it's needed most. Four military C-130 tankers, which can each carry up to 3,000 gallons of water, are positioned to cover the blazes burning near Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, as well as the entire Front Range if another fire were to break out, he said. At total of 18 air tankers were assigned to wildfires across the region.

Overall, there have been fewer fires and less acreage burned for the first six months of the year than for the same period in the previous six years. Some states are seeing fires earlier this year, but Harbour said resources are far from being exhausted.

"With over 10,000 firefighters in the Forest Service and the ability to get over 700 aircraft of all types, we're feeling cautiously confident when you look at the season as a whole," Harbour said.

Among the fires elsewhere in the West:

? A central Utah wildfire has destroyed at least 56 structures, mainly homes, and continues to burn with little containment, authorities said Wednesday. Officials expected the damage estimate to rise considerably as they continue their assessment of the fire-ravaged area between Fountain Green and Fairview and north across the Utah County line. Authorities were about halfway through their damage assessment of a fire that has burned about 72 square miles. Officials returned to an evacuated area and found a woman dead Tuesday.

? Wildfires that have torched more than 200 square miles and burned dozens of homes in southeastern Montana spread farther Wednesday, with additional evacuations ordered after a blaze south of Roundup jumped a perimeter line built by firefighters. The growing Dahl fire, which has burned more than 60 homes by one estimate, forced an unknown number of residents to leave their homes near its southern flank, on top of an estimated 600 people evacuated the day before.

"That's one of the most dangerous fires in the history of Montana," Gov. Brian Schweitzer said.

? A wildfire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest has grown from about 2,000 acres to 12,000 acres, or nearly 19 square miles, officials said Wednesday. Authorities worked to get campers out of the area.

New site tells what you ? and everyone else ? is doing

20 hrs.

Hate your boss? Are you hungover? Did you smoke some weed? If you keep these thoughts and actions to yourself, step away from this story now. But if you share that kind of info?on Facebook, you could be featured on a new website that?simply combs through publicly?available,?posted comments from the social network.

Among the examples shared on We Know What You're Doing:?

I'm getting so mad right now I hate my boss Jay I hope he dies better yet I feel like killin him if you in a bad mood don't take it out on everyone at the job

Never been so hungover. :(

God is peace and love# God smoke cannabis!!! :o

And it's not just what's being said, it's who's saying it. That's right: "Your name here,"?basically, especially if you haven't set stronger privacy controls on who sees your information. Your name and photo ? if you have one posted publicly ? could show up on We Know What You're Doing.

We Know What You're Doing also was sharing new phone numbers that social network users publicly posted for anyone to see. But site creator Callum Haywood, who lives in Nottingham, England, told msnbc.com in an email interview?Tuesday that "just earlier?today I started to censor people's phone numbers, so they were not directly visible."

What, you didn't think your remarks about your boss, your drinking, your drugging, were public? Then this site ? and the warning it gives ? is for you, a wakeup call that should catapult you into action, into reviewing your Facebook?settings.

And it's not the first time a site like this has popped up. Back in the Internet's ancient times of 2010, a site called Please Rob Me raised hackles ? and some consciousness???when it shared Facebook info from people publicly posting about being away from home on vacations. (I say "some consciousness,"?because there still way too many people publicly sharing that they'll be in Bermuda, or wherever, for the next 2 weeks, and away from home.)

Haywood, who says he's an 18-year-old Web developer, came up with the idea based on a video, "I Know What You Did Five Minutes Ago," from Ignite London 4's conference last year, which showed how easily personal information can be plucked and culled from Web users who aren't more careful about privacy settings.

Facebook's privacy controls, Haywood says, "are very effective when used correctly." But, as?noted recently, those privacy controls can be more confusing and?harder to understand than?the small print coming from credit card companies and even government entities, according to a recent survey.

As to We Know What You're Doing's information, "There is nothing on this website that cannot be accessed by anyone else," Haywood says on the site.

"These people probably wouldn't want this info (published), would they?" Haywood says in his own Q-and-A. His answer:

Probably not to be fair, but it was their choice, or lack of, with regards to their account privacy settings. People have lost their jobs in the past due to some of the posts they put on Facebook, so maybe this demonstrates why. Efforts have been made to remove any personal data from the results, such as the actual phone numbers, surnames, etc. The data is still easily accessible from the API, the filters have been put in place to protect the site from legal issues.

The lesson to be learned, he writes: "Just make sure your Facebook privacy settings are sufficient, for example don't publish status updates containing potentially risky material as 'Public' because then they have a good chance of showing up in the public Graph API ... The problem is not with Facebook themselves, when used correctly, their privacy controls are very good. The problem is how people simply don't understand the risks of sharing everything."

Long-term calcium and vitamin D supplement use may be linked to increased risk of kidney stones

ScienceDaily (June 26, 2012) ? Calcium and vitamin D supplements are associated with high calcium levels in the blood and urine, which could increase the risk of kidney stones, a new study finds.

The results will be presented Tuesday at The Endocrine Society's 94th Annual Meeting in Houston.

"The use of calcium and vitamin D supplementation may not be as benign as previously thought," said principal investigator J. Christopher Gallagher, M.D., professor and director of the Bone Metabolism Unit at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE. "Pending further information, people should not exceed the guidelines suggested by the Institute of Medicine, which are 800 international units of vitamin D, and 800-1,200 milligrams per day of calcium."

Taking vitamin supplements has become a widespread practice throughout many parts of the world. In the United States alone, it is estimated that nearly two-thirds of women take vitamin supplements, with calcium and vitamin D among the most commonly used. Despite their popularity, the precise health effects of long-term calcium and vitamin D supplementation remain unclear.

Previous research has indicated that high levels of calcium in the urine, or hypercalciuria, may increase the risk of kidney stones. Elevated calcium in the blood, or hypercalcemia, is associated with many complications, including bone and kidney problems.

Gallagher and study lead author Vinod Yalamanchili, M.D., research fellow in Creighton University's Bone Metabolism Unit, studied 163 healthy, postmenopausal women between the ages of 57 and 85 years. All participants were randomly assigned to receive a vitamin D supplement of 400, 800, 1600, 2400, 3200, 4000, or 4800 international units a day, or placebo. Then, their calcium intake was increased from an initial intake of 691 to 1,200-1,400 milligrams per day. Investigators measured blood and urinary calcium levels at the beginning of the study, and then every three months for one year.

They found that approximately 48 participants, or 33 percent, developed high urinary levels of calcium at some time in the study. These participants had 88 episodes of high urinary calcium. Hypercalciuria has been linked to an increased risk of kidney stones identified in previous studies. No incidents of kidney stones were reported during this one-year study, which was funded by The National Institute on Aging.

Additionally, about 10 percent of study subjects developed high blood levels of calcium. This translates into 25 episodes among 16 participants. In both cases, the increases were unrelated to the dosage of vitamin D.

"Because of the unpredictable response, it is not clear whether it is the extra calcium, the vitamin D or both together that cause these problems," Gallagher said. "However, it is possible that long-term use of supplements causes hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia, and this can contribute to kidney stones. For these reasons, it is important to monitor blood and urine calcium levels in people who take these supplements on a long-term basis. This is rarely done in clinical practice."

ICANN pauses system to decide suffix review order

NEW YORK (AP) ? The organization in charge of creating hundreds of additional Internet address suffixes to rival ".com" has suspended the Web-based system it set up to help decide the order in which it will review new address proposals.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers shut the system indefinitely over the weekend after confirming reports of "unexpected results." ICANN said network delays and the system's response to "differing circumstances" caused problems.

Even before the technical issues emerged, participants had complained that the system, described as digital archery, was overly complicated. People proposing a new suffix had to specify a target date and time, and then return to the website at that time to hit a "Generate" button as close to the target as possible. Those with the closest matches would get their proposals considered first.

ICANN suggested that the suspension might be permanent given the complaints. Besides investigating the technical problems, ICANN said it "will continue to listen to community comment" and will consider any information gathered.

Even with the suspension, ICANN said it would be able to make preliminary reviews of the proposals.

ICANN has received 1,930 proposals for 1,409 different domain name suffixes, including ".love," ''.google" and ".music." It will be the largest expansion of the Internet address system since its creation in the 1980s.

The digital archery system's troubles are the latest technical problems to hit ICANN, which is in charge of coordinating much of the technology behind the Internet's addressing system.

This spring, ICANN suspended access to its system for letting bidders submit proposals, after it discovered technical glitches that exposed some private data. That took more than a month to fix and restore.

After the proposals were unveiled this month, ICANN briefly suspended access to some of the documents on its website after inadvertently publishing the postal addresses of some individuals ? information that was meant to be private.

Rangers Vs Rockies: Texas Wins 4-1, Oswalt Impresses

In front a franchise record-tying 21st sellout crowd of the season, the Texas Rangers against the Colorado Rockies. Friday nights have usually been sellouts for the Rangers, but this Friday night had another reason for the sellout: the Ranger debut of Roy Oswalt. He did not disappoint.

The Rangers got out to an early 4-0 lead courtesy of an Adrian Beltre two-run home run in the first and a a Nelson Cruz RBI double and Mike Napoli solo shot in the fourth.

Oswalt pitched better than the Rangers could have asked. He threw six scoreless innings before allowing his first run with two outs in the seventh. Dexter Fowler hit a two-out triple and scored on a Marco Scutaro double, making the score 4-1. That would be the end of Oswalt's night.

Oswalt's final line was 6 2/3 innings with one earned run and nine hits with six strikeouts to only one walk. Of his 110 pitches, a whopping 81 were strikes. Even more telling of Oswalt's performance was the fact that 14 Colorado hitters fell behind 0-2 to Oswalt and only one got ahead 2-0. Additionally, Oswalt only had two 3-ball counts (one a strikeout of Jason Giambi, and the other a walk to Carlos Gonzalez).

Robbie Ross would come in and get Gonzalez to ground out to Ian Kinsler to retire the side. Ross would stay in to pitch the eighth, but only got two outs before he was pulled for Mike Adams. Ross' final line was one inning, two hits and no runs. Adams would give up a hit, but recorded the final out of the inning unscathed.

The Ranger bats were practically silent in the second half of the game, but the four runs scored were plenty behind Oswalt and the bullpen.

Joe Nathan would come in to pitch a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts to record his 16th save of the season, securing a 4-1 victory for the Rangers and Oswalt's first win of the season.
