?LG has admitted that higher than expected demand is the reason why the Google Nexus 4 smartphone keeps selling out.
The LG supplied smartphone went on sale in the middle of last month, but sold out in less than an hour. Since then it has been back in stock briefly once, but again sold out within the day.
Andy Coughlin, the head of mobile at LG UK, told Cnet that the phone "had proven extremely popular, and as such retailers have been met with huge demand".
Without actual sales numbers though -- which the companies are not disclosing -- it is not possible to be sure if demand is exceeding realistic sales expectations, or if the expectations were unusually low, and as a result, the company simply didn't order the usual number of handsets.
LG did say that sales demand through Google's own online retail channel, Google Play has been "very high in this instance."
Although sold out in the UK, the phone is currently showing shipment delays of 6-7 weeks in the USA.
