Going Global, Sales, Management, & the New Economy ...

Competency & Performance Solutions (CPS) continues to work towards growing skills for a new economic era.

We have many strategies to engage learners in thinking about the new economy, but we find that it is often most effective to show our participants how the economy is changing, especially if they are somewhat comfortable in their existing positions. We like?? videos such as those of Kiva?s orange robots.? Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) has paid? $775 million for a controlling interest in Kiva Systems. These prove to people that the 20th century is never coming back and human thought and innovation are required in all positions.

CPS trains people to adapt to a world where human work adds greater value to business processes,? solves more problems, thinks more critically, innovates and understand relationships better.

Our participants learn to be more effective than others, in strategy, leadership, management, sales, technology, execution, diversity,? cultural adaptation and communication.

Community service work remains a major interest for CPS. We train cultural fluency for the International Trade Certificate for USF-SBDC, serve on the Board of TBIBC (the Tampa Bay International Business Council) and work for Project Promise, the Hillsborough Council Public Schools program for at-risk teens.

Differentness is a fascinating area of? area of training in an ever-more diverse world, where generation or gender, disability or ethnicity, veteran status or cultural heritage affect communication and meaning, and ?the other guy doesn?t see the world the way you do.?

The Tampa Bay International Business Council can help everyone in Central West Florida. Most people know that TBIBC is a grassroots-based body which is as the umbrella body of the regional binational Chambers of Commerce (www.tbibc.org).? We promote Collaboration, Diversity and Prosperity amongst the communities of the most diverse region of Florida.

The amazing diversity of our region makes it possible to reach the 95% of potential customers and suppliers who live outside the USA?s borders. There are people from over 100 nations living and working in West Central Florida, and the TBIBC can help you connect with them. They will share? their knowledge of their home countries, business systems, their networks and their goodwill to grow your business ventures.

You can sign up for the newsletter at www.tbibc.org. Two invitations to TBIBC events follow, and both are free.

The next TBIBC TV appearance is on Saturday, May 26 at 8:00 PM on Verizon FIOS 36 and Bright House Network 949, and is on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4pyn-P3dIo&feature=player_embedded#! The topic is Going Global, with specific relevance to growing small and medium sized businesses in a global economy.

Education

Education and training are critical to the well-being our economy. There is something for everyone to do to grow skills, knowledge, confidence or to build up individual people to prepare the United States for whatever economic and social future is around the corner.

  • Many thanks to Felix Feituri and his team, whose grant-writing skills save our clients most of their training costs every year,
  • CPS is committed to Project Promise (which supports at-risk teens). In return this kind of tough training keeps us endlessly challenged and innovative.
  • We thank Pam and Sandra Cordoba and Renita Norman (US Navy) who give their time, energy and creative ideas to help create peals of happy laughter.
  • Congratulations to Maureen Sharkey and the rest of the management team of Pinellas Rubber Stamp and Engraving for taking soft-skills training into light manufacturing and seeing the team building results.
  • Special kudos to Hilton Ross-Munro for attended Improv training at the Box Theater in Ybor as part of his growth from tight-lipped litigator to co-therapist. We were much impressed.

We look forward to seeing you on 31 May or 8 June, or to discuss a custom training program, focused on your specific needs and industry.

Sincerely

Glynis Ross-Munro
